After having a baby, when did you period restart?

I had my baby in March and by May i had my first period I'm not breast feeding either due to complications.I heard it can take some women up to a year to have a period so it really depends on the person. If it was a hemorrhage you wouldn't mistake it, it would be sudden and a lot more blood.
