I want to adopt pitt bull from county shelter but my family rejects the breed. What to do?

I saw a very sweet pitt bull pup that is barely 4 months old. I want to get him as pet but my parents said, "no pitt bulls. they are dangerous dogs. we don't want carnage in the house". Their view of pitt-bull is so ridiculous I feel ashamed just to think people in my house have such feelings. Their view of PB is so backward. They describe pitt bull as if its an evil monster. I can't explain how I feel in love when i looked into the eyes of 4 month old pitt-bull. He was so gentle and loving. I advised my parents to take a look at the 4 month old PB at least and they said, "sorry no cruel dogs will ever be adopted"
